What it means when you see this message on the Smart Cooker

On rare occasions, we may discover an issue with the meals and proactively disable the barcode on the meal’s label so that it cannot be cooked in the Smart Cooker. This may occur for any of the following reasons:

  • a potential quality, safety, or packaging issue

  • a voluntary or mandatory recall by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on an ingredient used in KitchenMate meals.

When you see this message on the Smart Cooker display, the cooking page on your app will also reflect this message. This meal will be labelled with a 'Disabled' tag on the menu at your site to discourage others from cooking the same meal.

Remove the meal from the Smart Cooker and dispose of meal

Open the plastic film on the tray, dispose of food into a compost bin or garbage, and rinse and recycle the pod. If you don’t want to do this, please place the meal back in the fridge in its own area if possible (in a corner or on an empty shelf). These meals will be collected by KitchenMate as soon as possible and responsibly disposed of.
